The Rockdale Animal Hospital Team is excited to announce Dr. Krista Whitlock’s return! We know that many of you share in the excitement of this reunion, including Bruce, our clinic cat who is paw-sitively delighted with the news!
Dr. Whitlock brings a wealth of experience, compassion, and a deep connection with our pet families. Raised in Athens, GA and a University of GA graduate, she has been providing exceptional care to the community since 1997. She is known to many as she was a veterinarian at Rockdale Animal Hospital from 2018-2022 and continued to provide PennHIP xrays to our patients over the past year.
Her specialties include veterinary hospice care, PennHIP, and internal medicine. She is a recipient of Hill’s Buddy Award for Excellence in Small Animal Nutrition and voted Best Veterinarian by the Readers of the Rockdale Newton Citizen.
Dr. Whitlock is certified in PennHIP, a radiographic screening technique for canine hips that determines risk of developing degenerative joint disease (DJD). With her return to Rockdale full-time, screenings will be more accessible to all our clients.
Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy (CAETA) certified, Dr. Whitlock is passionate about providing gentle and compassionate end-of-life care for pets and support to their caregivers. She has focused the past year on veterinary hospice care and in-home euthanasia.
Her love for animals continues outside of the hospital where she shares her home with her husband, two dogs, and three cats, including one cat with special needs. She is also the proud mother of two adult children. Dr. Whitlock is a self-proclaimed giant nerd and enjoys attending or volunteering at science fiction conventions.
Please join us in extending a warm welcome back to Dr. Whitlock! She starts January 2 and will be available Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please call us at (770) 922-8600 or request an appointment online.
